Redo Gastric Surgery

Occasionally things can go wrong after weight –loss surgery. Maybe you have suffered a rare complication of gastric banding, bypass or sleeve gastrectomy…or maybe you are just not managing to lose weight anymore.

You may have had surgery abroad or elsewhere in the UK and we would generally recommend that you return to your original surgeon if you have problems. However, this is not always appropriate and we are happy to see and advise anyone who has run into difficulties.

You may simply need some advice but will probably need an x-ray or endoscopy so that we can see where the problem may lie. If we feel you need further surgery we can discuss options with you – whether it is re-positioning a slipped or badly placed gastric band, or performing a different operation entirely.

Although more complicated, most re-do (revisional) surgery  can be performed by key-hole (laparoscopic techniques) and in our experience is almost always successful in getting you back on the road to weight-loss.

All surgery is associated with some risk. The Weight Loss Surgery Clinic will provide you with full information about the specific risks of this type of surgery.
