Mr Justin Morgan MD FRCS

 

Justin Morgan has been a consultant general, endocrine and transplant surgeon for 15 years, working at Southmead hospital Bristol, the Royal Bristol Childrens Hospital and the Spire Hospital, Bristol.

 

He qualified in 1986 at the Welsh National School of Medicine and became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in London in 1990. He was appointed as a consultant surgeon in 1996, first at the Royal Devon and Exeter hospital and then at Southmead Hospital, Bristol in 1998.

 

Mr Morgan has had a long interest in surgery for weight loss and its effects on conditions such as diabetes, sleep apnoea , hypertension and arthritis, as well as weight loss surgery in adolescents. He trained in weight loss surgery with Dr Vincent Frering in Lyon France.

Ms Sally Norton MB ChB MD FRCS

Sally Norton is a consultant laparoscopic, bariatric and upper gastrointestinal surgeon at Southmead Hospital, the Bristol Royal Infirmary and the Spire Hospital, Bristol.

 

Ms Norton has had a specialist interest in weight loss surgery for over 11 years having undertaken a year-long fellowship in Australia, training with Dr George Fielding, a world renowned expert in weight loss surgery. This provided her with experience in a range of  laparoscopic weight-loss surgery procedures including duodenal switch and gastric banding.

 

She set up the Bristol Bariatric Service 8 years ago in conjunction with colleague, Justin Morgan, and along with a large multidisciplinary team they have now treated in excess of 1000 patients. She undertakes research and teaching in the field and has lectured extensively in the UK and abroad. She serves on council of the British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society.
